4 Months

Wow, Shawn's been out 4 months and in Estonia for about 2 months now-- where does the time go? I finally downloaded the pictures off his memory card-- this one was kinda cool. I also found a few bits in his most recent e-mail entertaining. Apparently the weather is starting to get better there, and it's reflected in the light-heartedness of his writing:

Well, Kate, the time soon comes to taste the sweet joys of the MTC. By this I really mean the delicious chocolate milk and the Wednesday afternoon Banana Splits. MMMM.... good times!

So how are my two best friends doing? and I don't mean my pals in the Winnebago! [referring to Bindy Bob and Bobo, of course]

Dang. I don't remember ever having Banana Split Wednesday when I was in the MTC. It does sound delicious... it also sounds like Shawn is drinking Kool-Aid like a champ. Anyone who served with me knows what that's all about, heh.

I'll end with a bit-o-testimony from Elder Sloan:

Not one of us is a worthless, we are all children of our Father in Heaven, He loves us ALL, wants us ALL to return to live with Him. I am so happy to be able to share that with people that feel hopeless, when really there is a plan for them...

Amen. God be with you, Elder.

Enjoying that chicken there?

Ah, back to the old lunch-time shenanigans. I think shenanigans is one of my favorite words. "Good. Do it. Because I have no time for shenanigans. NO time!"

In a vain attempt to eat a little healthier, I got a salad from Wendy's today. I noticed something today about eating salads, though: "Have you ever noticed that salads take so long to eat that you almost forget that they don't fill you up?" Hehe. The best though was towards the end, I was rounding up all the chicken onto one side of the bowl and eating all the lettuce out of the other side.

Mar: "Enjoying that chicken there?" (sarcastically and giving me a funny look)
Mikie: "Of course. Save the best for last, you know? It's just the same as how you would eat everything but the marshmallows out of your Lucky Charms, Mar."

Ok I have to share some of the shenanigans from Sunday night. It's been several weeks since we played some Simpson's Clue after Sunday dinner, so Jesse rounded us up again to play the day before yesterday. Jesse usually spearheads the Simpson's Clue action, and yet he hadn't one a single game since we started playing it months ago. When it comes down to it, we don't play to win but for the hilarity that often ensues. People are always doing silly things and I have a crappy "poker face" when it comes to playing clue.

So, we're playing, and Jesse has already showed me his Marge (Miss Scarlet) card. I'm making a guess on another of my turns, and I did not guess Marge, but yet he walks over and shows it to me. Without thinking I burst out "Dude, you can't show me Marge again!" After which I hear "well now we all know Jesse has Marge!" as they scribble on their little cards. Jesse was just messing around by showing me a bogus card, and it backfired on him. I laughed so hard when I realized what I'd done... oh man I'm retarded. Jesse just turned around and went back to his seat-- he didn't say a word, just kept his cool though looking a little betrayed.

Then a little bit later, it's my turn again but Dad had emerged from his room to begin talking about the immigration stuff that's going on, distracting everyone from the game. I tried to make a guess and Marianne is the person next to me, and then Jesse. Mar has no cards to show me so it goes to Jesse, but he's not paying attention (as no one else is besides Mar), so Marianne starts repeating my guess louder to him to get him to respond. So he begins to show HER the card that he has (Bart) and she shuts her eyes and says "NOOOO!!! Not me!!!!" hahahaha.... Oh man we were all busting up.

The best part about that whole game? JESSE WON, even after all that stuff that happened to him. Again, the first time he'd won Simpson's Clue in about 3 or so months worth of playing. I guess he deserved to win, hehe... but man it was hilarious.

Happy Birthday Mar!

"So I just got this message you left for me on Pom Pom's cell phone telling me to go away and pick up sticks? Well I say that is GARBAGE, sister! Having to put up with you is like... having to put up with GARBAGE!"

What's great about Mar is not only does she know that I don't think putting up with her is like putting up with GARBAGE, she's actually reading this and laughing thinking of the message Homestar leaves on Marzipan's answering machine.

So happy number 29, Mar! We love you!f
